Delivering another blow to anti-terror legislation, Lord Phillips, the Lord Chief Justice, said there was no evidence that the Peoples Mujahidin Organisation of Iran was currently involved in terrorism.
LONDON (The Associated Press) - A British court was due to rule Wednesday on whether an Iranian opposition group should be removed from the government's list of banned terror organizations. The People's Mujahedeen of Iran (PMOI [MEK]) is considered a terrorist outfit by the United States and the European Union — but high-profile backers in Britain have waged a legal campaign to overturn its status as a proscribed group.
NCRI - On Tuesday workers of the state-owned Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Company in southwestern Khuzistan province near the city of Shoush, staged a protest to demand their unpaid salaries and called for an end to the harassment of their co-workers.
More than 2,000 workers of the company demonstrated in front of its management offices. The protesters did not permit the company’s deputy manager to enter his office.
PARIS (AP)--French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said Tuesday that an incentive package offered by leading powers to draw Iran into dialogue is "very generous" and will be delivered to Tehran within days.
Kouchner, speaking to reporters, wouldn't reveal details of the package before it was seen by Iran. However, he said that if Iran doesn't make the proposal public once it has been delivered, it will be put on the Internet so the Iranian people can learn about it.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - World powers very soon will present Iran with a revised package of incentives to give up its sensitive nuclear work, U.S. officials said on Monday, but expectations for a positive response are low.
"I think this will move very quickly," said a senior U.S. official, when asked when the incentives package agreed on by major powers in London last Friday would be formally offered to the Iranians.
NCRI- Brig. Gen. Mohammad Ali Jaffari, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that the main mission of his organization is to counter internal threats, state-run media reported on Sunday.
Speaking at a ceremony introducing the new commander of Tehran’s paramilitary Bassij Force, Jaffari reiterated the philosophy of IRGC’s existence as the sole protector of the Iranian regime, adding that “in the past few years” there has been “negligence” with this regard, state-run news agency ISNA reported.
