Rajavi: Cabinet composition signals stepped-up repression, export of terror, meddling in Iraq, escalation of nuclear projects
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's 21-member cabinet introduced to the Majlis (Parliament) Sunday consists entirely of Revolutionary Guards, terrorists and officials of the regime's suppressive machinery. At least 13 have been commanders and officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).
In response to kidnapping of two PMOI members in Iraq, Multi-National Force-Iraq issued a statement condemning this terrorist act. The full text of the statement follows:
A TIME investigation reveals the Tehran regime's strategy to gain influence in Iraq--and why U.S. troops may now face greater dangers as a result

Time Magazine, August 14 - The U.S. military's new nemesis in Iraq is named Abu Mustafa al-Sheibani, and he is not a Baathist or a member of al-Qaeda. He is working for Iran. According to a U.S. military-intelligence document obtained by Time, al-Sheibani heads a network of insurgents created by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps with the express purpose of committing violence against U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq. Over the past eight months, his group has introduced a new breed of roadside bomb more lethal than any seen before; based on a design from the Iranian-backed Lebanese militia Hizballah, the weapon employs "shaped" explosive charges that can punch through a battle tank's armor like a fist through the wall.
Associated Press, August 15 - The US military says it is investigating the apparent kidnapping of two Iranian opposition members who disappeared weeks ago in Baghdad and it's demanding their release.
The People's Mujahideen Organisation of Iran, or Mujahideen Khalq, had said two of its members were kidnapped by Iraqi interior ministry special forces troops, but ministry officials said they had no information about the abductions.
In a letter to the Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jafari on August 12, the U.S. member of Congress Edolphus Town expressed his concern over the disappearance of two PMOI members in Iraq. A copy of his letter was also sent to the Iraqi Foreign Minister and several international human rights bodies which in part reads: “Terrorism is a great impediment to the establishment of freedom and democracy in Iraq. It is our responsibility to aid Iraqis who are interested in an independent and democratic country.
Sunday Telegraph, Sunday 14 August - The failure of the EU's attempts to persuade Iran not to manufacture nuclear weapons has been even more humiliating than is generally realised. The purpose of the two-year joint mission by British, French and German diplomats was to talk the Iranians into not producing enriched uranium. According to a Reuters report in the US Defense News, however, based on a government document smuggled out of Iran by the National Council for the Resistance of Iran, the mullahs have used that time to assemble thousands of the necessary centrifuges, which can conveniently be hidden across the country.
