Iran: Five hundred students in Tabriz end their second day of sit-in

Sahand Universty sit-inNCRI - Students at Sahand University in Tabriz, provincial capital of Eastern Azerbaijan, northwest Iran, ended their second day of sit-in yesterday.

In a bid to end the students' protest, the regime has resorted to its usual methods of threats and intimidations. The university officials have been making threatening calls to the families of female students who play an active role in the sit-in to put pressure on their children for ending their protest. Students have been staying in the main university buildings over night.

Maryam Rajavi dismissed Iran regime's election as a farce - EuroNews

Maryam RajaviNCRI – Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance dismissed the Iranian regime's parliamentary election sham as farce in an interview with the EuroNews broadcast on Friday.

"In a religious dictatorship, parliamentary elections have no meaning," she said. "Khamenei and Ahmadinejad have prepared everything to create a parliament entirely favorable to their goals, that is to say, obtaining the atomic bomb." She added.

Iran: Mullahs' runoff Majlis election charade discarded by people

Sample ImageNCRI - The mullahs' runoff Majlis (parliament) election charade yesterday was ignored by people across Iran far greater than the first round according to reports by the resistance's sources from polling stations in Tehran and various cities and towns.

There were only a handful of people who turned out to vote in many polling stations in Tehran including the ones in Aryashahr, Kashani Boulevard, Nezam Mafi Mosque, Islamshahr, Azadi Street in Hashemi district, Nabi Mosque in Narmak district, Saheb Zaman Mosque and Jame'e Mosque.

Although the "Foreign Terrorist Organizations" list has a set of criteria for designating groups, there is little clarity in practice about the process for revocation. Even after organizations have renounced terrorism for many years, their designations persist without a clear explanation, and are based on the assumption that historical violence indicates future potential.

Iran: New prisons built under the pretext of "temporary detention centers"

Iran PrisonNCRI - The Iranian regime is building a series of new prisons under the pretext of “temporary detention centers” in Tehran, the state-run news agency Mehr reported on Monday.

“Presently, only one special detention center has been built to hold prisoners temporality on Resalat Highway in northeast Tehran for the province… There will be two more completed before the end of the year. However, based on the estimates, there should be four other buildings of the same nature built in Tehran Province,” said Sohrab Soleimani the director of the regime's prisons.

Members of European Parliament call on France to be firm with Iran regime

Maryam Rajavi in Council of EuropeNCRI - Members of the European Parliament called on the French president Nicolas Sarkozy to implement his policy of firmness toward the Iranian regime when France holds the European Union’s presidency in the second half of 2008. Reuters reported from Strasbourg on Thursday.

"I say to the French presidency: talking tough will solve the problem, We must translate into practice," "The first step in this direction is to remove PMOI (People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK)) from the list of terrorist organizations," the report quoted Struan Stevenson, a British Conservative MEP and the co-chair, Friends of a Fee Iran, an intergroup in the European Parliament as saying.
