Iran: EU again warns Iran on nuclear program PDF Print E-mail

European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana Agence France Presse, NEWPORT, Wales, September 1 - The European Union said on Thursday that it may refer Iran to the UN Security Council for possible sanctions over its nuclear program after it breached an accord with the European bloc.

Speaking at an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers, EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said the bloc was watching to see if Iran would comply with a deadline this week set by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

French President Jacques Chirac Bloomberg, August 29 - French President Jacques Chirac said Iran will face referral to the United Nations Security Council if it doesn't suspend its nuclear program and respond to proposals by European Union negotiators.

Iran should re-examine EU offers to help it develop a civilian energy program under international supervision and give it access to technology and ``return to the commitment to suspend activities related to the production of fissile materials,'' Chirac told French ambassadors in Paris today.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran said the Iranian regime was working round the clock to build centrifuges and was storing thousands already constructed in warehouses belonging to the defense ministry and Revolutionary Guard in Tehran and Isfahan.

Tehran has 4,000 centrifuges - Iranian dissident PDF Print E-mail

Alireza JaafarzadehVIENNA, Austria (AP) August 9 — Iran has manufactured about 4,000 centrifuges capable of enriching uranium to weapons grade, an exiled Iranian dissident who helped uncover nearly two decades of covert nuclear activity in 2002 said Tuesday.

Alireza Jafarzadeh told The Associated Press the centrifuges — which he said are unknown to the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency — are ready to be installed at Iran's nuclear facility in Natanz.

Jafarzadeh, who runs Strategic Policy Consulting, a Washington-based think tank focusing on Iran and Iraq, said the information — which he described as "very recent" — came from sources within the Tehran regime who have proven accurate in the past.
