A European-based Iranian exile group reports that there are major divisions within the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), the Islamic shock troops that the U.S. government has linked to international terrorism.

he group, the People's Mujahideen of Iran, stated in a report that its sources inside Iran think there is major discord within the paramilitary force that is believed to have a major role within the regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The August report stated that both the leadership and the structure of the IRGC are undergoing widespread transformation.

Iran: Nine members of Special Groups captured by US troops in Baghdad PDF Print E-mail

iran-training-camps150NCRI – The US troops captured nine members of a "pro-Iranian" group in a predominantly Sunni area of the Iraqi capital, the AFP quoted a US military statement on Tuesday.

"Intelligence sources led coalition forces to the location of a suspected Kataib Hezbollah associate believed to be in control of at least one terrorist cell" operating in the southern city of Basra, the statement added.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A Senate panel will consider legislation this week that would expand economic and trade sanctions against Iran days after Tehran test-fired missiles it said could reach U.S. assets in the region.

The top Republican and Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee said on Tuesday they agreed on legislation to widen sanctions in response to Washington's concern about weapons proliferation and Iran's support for Islamist militants in the Middle East.

Iran regime's missile attack on Ashraf City (home to PMOI members in Iraq) NCRI - At 5:25 this morning, Friday, July 4, 2008, the clerical regime, once again, attacked Ashraf City (home to members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Iraq, by Grad missiles.

No one was harmed in this attack which was carried out in reaction to the support expressed by three million Iraqi Shiites for Ashraf, the removal of the PMOI (MEK) from the terror list, and the largest gathering of Iranians in Paris on June 28.

The clerical regime carried out a similar attack on May 26, 2008, following the British Court of Appeal's decision to remove the PMOI (MEK) from the list of proscribed organizations.

NCRI – A new U.S. military report says Iranian regime is continuing to funnel weapons and money to Shiite militants across Iraq, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

The U.S. military report that reserved the harshest words for Iran described its regime meddling as the "greatest long-term threat to Iraqi security."

NCRI - A Spokesman for the US forces in Iraq said that the "special groups" supported by Tehran's regime are behind the Tuesday's deadly blast in Baghdad which left some 60 dead, according to the German press agency, dpa.

Many victims were trapped in their apartments by a raging fire that engulfed at least one building, according to police and Interior Ministry officials, who also said about 75 people, were wounded. Stunned survivors stumbled through the rubble-strewn street, which was filled with the smoke from burning vehicles, witnesses said.

June 10 (Bloomberg) -- Iran spends $2.5 billion a year on its "activities'' in Iraq and provides militias there with 80 percent of the arms used against U.S.-led forces, the exiled opposition National Council for Resistance in Iran said.

"The mullahs have no intention of seeing a safe and secure Iraq,'' Hossein Abedini, a member of the group's foreign affairs committee, told a press conference in London today. "They are stepping up attacks to push coalition forces out so they can set up a satellite state."

Secret details of the production of a new type of explosively formed penetrator, or EFP in military jargon, is being produced by Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps – Qods Force (IRGC-QF), according to sources in the Iranian resistance.

The information was revealed at a Parliamentary press conference held in London Tuesday by the National Council of Resistance of Iran, a group opposed to the rule of the mullahs. The NCRI revealed precise details of 51 weapons smuggling networks operating between Iran and Iraq. The group outlined the methods used to smuggle the EFPs and exposed the Iranian-backed terrorist militias operating in Iraq. The information presented to the media was backed up by satellite images obtained by the NCRI depicting a number of what was described as "secret sites."

Iran has a secret $2.5 billion (£1.2 billion) budget for supporting terrorist groups that target British troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, it has been claimed.
The funds were allocated by the Islamic Republic's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameni to the Revolutionary Guard Quds Force, the opposition group National Council for Resistance of Iran said.

"The Iran government is spending $2.5 billion in this financial year through the Qods Force in Iraq," said Hossein Abedini, a NCRI representative in London. "It could even be more because the commanders do not really face budgetary constraints in this regard."
