Source: The Washington Times By David R. Sands - The Bush administration yesterday imposed new financial sanctions on a top Iranian general and a Syrian-based television station, accusing them of backing violent attacks on U.S. and allied forces in Iraq.
The latest round of financial pressure on Tehran, announced by the Treasury Department as President Bush began an eight-day Middle East tour, came as both U.S. allies and adversaries in the region raised fresh questions about the U.S. policy of trying to isolate Iran.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States on Wednesday imposed sanctions on an Iranian general from the elite Qods force as well as three Iraqis living in exile in Syria and Iran for fomenting violence in Iraq.
The U.S. Treasury Department, which made the announcement, named the general as Ahmed Foruzandeh, who it said "leads terrorist operations" against U.S. forces in Iraq and directed assassinations of Iraqi figures. In addition, sanctions were also put on Syrian-based Al-Zawra television station.

NCRI - Agents of the clerical regime murdered Sheikh Salman Hamzeh al-Jabouri and his three sons. He was a relative of Dr. Abdullah Jabouri, the former Governor of Diyala Province.
At midnight on Monday, December 31, 2007, the terrorists kidnapped Sheikh Salman Hamzeh Jabouri and his sons from their residence in Marjaneh village, six Kilometers north of Saadieh in Diyala Province. They were machine gunned only four hundred meters away from their home and all of them were killed instantly.

NCRI - The Qods Force of the Iran regime's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) plans to create new special units to counter the Iraqi Awakening Councils, Al-Sharqiya TV, the Iraqi TV network revealed.
"IRGC command has formed special units and has deployed new commanders in order to carry out extensive operations inside Iraq," Al-Sharqiya quoted a senior Iraqi security official on Friday.

KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan (The Canadian Press)- Defence Minister Peter MacKay says weapons are flowing from Iran into the hands of Afghan insurgents.
He says improvised explosive devices from Iran have been a particular concern for Canadians. Most of Canada's 73 combat deaths have been the result of IEDs.

NCRI - The commander of U.S. forces in the Middle East has called on Iranian regime to officially stop helping insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Admiral Fallon spoke after visiting soldiers at a U.S. military hospital in Germany who had been wounded in Iraq by high-powered roadside bombs supplied by Iranian regime, VOA News reported.

Baku (APA)- Iranian ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Nasir Hamidi Zare was today invited to Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov told journalists, APA reports.
The minister mentioned that Iran had wanted facts from Azerbaijan about the case of Said.
"Iran wanted broad information from us about this case. We invited the ambassador to Foreign Ministry and gave him necessary information. We asked the ambassador to deliver the documents to official Tehran and give answer to us. Iran wanted facts, and we presented them the necessary facts," he said.

Source: Trend News Azerbaijan - The Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan voiced its disagreement with the demonstration of a documentary film at the Azerbaijani State Television Channel about the activities of a criminal group 'Said's band', which targeted the seize of the state power by force in cooperation with the corps of Iranian revolution's defenders Sepah. The group (named after Said Dadashbeyli), was arrested in January 2007 was accused of forced seizing the state power in Azerbaijan.
The film demonstrates their relations with Sepah, which provided them with bases for training.
