is engaged in supporting terrorists all over the world. This regime has
nothing to do with Shiism unless it serves its goals and interests.

KABUL (Reuters) - Iranian arms are entering Afghanistan and reaching
Taliban insurgents in such quality and quantity that the Tehran
government must know about it, the U.S. ambassador to Kabul said on
Tuesday.
The charge is similar to that made by U.S. Defense Secretary Robert
Gates a month ago, rejected by Tehran as "baseless and illogical".

London, July 16 (Bloomberg)—Britain said it has confiscated weapons
being carried into Afghanistan from Iran on at least two occasions, the
first time the U.K. has suggested Iran may be supporting Taliban
insurgents there.
"We have successfully interdicted a flow of arms from across the
Iranian border into Afghanistan," Defense Secretary Des Browne said in
Parliament in response to questions. There were "markings on weaponry
suggesting they are of Iranian origin."

WASHINGTON, July 11 (UPI) -- Iranian agents have taken to arming and
training Iraqi al-Qaida insurgents along with both Shiite and Sunni
fighters, a U.S. general says.
Speaking at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, retired
four-star Gen. Jack Keane said the goal of Iran is to beat down the
U.S. presence and increase Iran's influence in the region, the
Washington Times reported Wednesday.

KABUL (AFP) - In public, Afghanistan has played down US and British
allegations that Iran is feeding weapons to Taliban insurgents, but in
private, officials here say the charges are true -- and worrying.
A serious debate is under way in President Hamid Karzai's
administration about Iranian support to both the Taliban and emerging
opposition political parties, several officials told AFP.

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AFP)-Iran played a "big role" in Hamas's seizure
of Gaza from Palestinian security forces earlier this month,
Palestinian intelligence chief Tawfiq al-Tirawi charged on Sunday.
"According to our information, Iran has played a big role in what
happened in Gaza. Dozens of members of Hamas have been trained in Iran,
and Hamas smuggled in weapons through tunnels not to fight Israel but
against the Palestinian Authority," Tirawi told a news conference.
