KABUL (AFP) - In public, Afghanistan has played down US and British
allegations that Iran is feeding weapons to Taliban insurgents, but in
private, officials here say the charges are true -- and worrying.
A serious debate is under way in President Hamid Karzai's
administration about Iranian support to both the Taliban and emerging
opposition political parties, several officials told AFP.

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AFP)-Iran played a "big role" in Hamas's seizure
of Gaza from Palestinian security forces earlier this month,
Palestinian intelligence chief Tawfiq al-Tirawi charged on Sunday.
"According to our information, Iran has played a big role in what
happened in Gaza. Dozens of members of Hamas have been trained in Iran,
and Hamas smuggled in weapons through tunnels not to fight Israel but
against the Palestinian Authority," Tirawi told a news conference.

Reuters reported an aide to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud
Abbas said on Monday Iran had encouraged Hamas to use violence to take
control of the Gaza Strip.
"Iran supports non-democratic groups in Palestine, Lebanon and in Iraq
and we hold Iran responsible for encouraging Hamas to carry out its
coup in Gaza," senior Palestinian official Yasser Abed Rabbo said.

Herat, Afghanistan (DPA) - More than 20 armed men crossed the border from
Iran into Afghanistan and entered an Afghan town, an Afghan police
commander said in the first such blunt claim by a high-ranking Afghan
official.
Colonel Rahmatullah Safi - police commander in the three western
provinces of Farah, Badghis and Herat - said that according to
intelligence information, the group of armed militants crossed the
border Monday in Farah's Anardara district.

with Ali Khamenei where they have decided to employ the Islamic
Fundamentalists to intensify terror activities against Western
interests.
A top secret report from sources within the regime specifies that it
has been decided to allocate as much amount of funds necessary to
activate their proxy forces in other countries.

On Wednesday, Almalaf website reported: Iraqi political sources believe
that those who planned the destruction of the minarets of the Holy
Shrine in Samarra are the ones who plan to undermine the newly formed
political establishment and continue in crisis mode to remain in power.
The article continues: "The explosion of the minarets of the Holy
Shrine occurred after the Supreme National Security Council of Iran in
a meeting decided to intensify acts of terrorism in Iraq. This was
reported on Tuesday by Almalaf.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, strongly
condemned the bombing of the holy shrine of Imam Askary in Samarra.
Mrs. Rajavi said: "The bombing at the Holy Shrine of the Shiite Imams
once again has all the Muslims, especially those in Iraq and Iran,
grieving." She added: "This hideous criminal act of terrorism will only
serve the divisive interests of the ruling theocratic fascists in Iran
who with demagoguery talk of Islam while in reality are the worst
enemies of Islam, Muslims and are definitely the enemies of humanity.
They are the most active sponsor of terrorism in the world."

Ahmad Soleiman Jamil and Ms. Maisoun Damlouji, noted that the Iranian
regime is behind terrorist attacks in Iraq.
Dr. Ahmad Jalil said: Iranian regime is extensively meddling in Iraq.
No one denies this fact and the dialogue between this regime and
Americans proves in itself their interference.

PARIS (Reuters) - Iran is arming the Taliban in Afghanistan, U.S.
Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns said on Tuesday, accusing Tehran
of fuelling insurrection around the Middle East and misjudging the
international mood.
Paying a brief visit to France, Burns warned Iran that it would face
increasingly tough sanctions if it refused to negotiate over its
nuclear ambitions in the "next week or two".
Burns said Iran was a destabilizing force and was funding extremists in the Palestinian territories, Lebanon and Iraq.
