NCRI-According to Islamic Republic News Agency, 100 participants in the anti-government demonstrations in Eghlid (southern province of Fars) were wounded.
Residents of Eghlid took part in major anti-government demonstrations on April 23 and 24, and called for removal of city and provincial officials.

NCRI- April 28, 2007 - A number of students in university of Lorestan province (West of Iran) took part in a two day strike starting Wednesday April 25. They protested lack of classrooms, libraries and the low quality of education. Students also condemned the repressive atmosphere in the university and also stated that all their demands face a harsh and suppressive reaction from "Disciplinary Committee", a government watchdog organization in the university. The students said that they are deprived of their most rudimentary rights in the university. |

NCRI-April 28, 2007- Teachers Guild has called for a nationwide strike on April 30 and May 2. This strike is organized to express the teachers' objection about the arrest and lay off of their colleagues.
Since last February, teachers have staged several strikes seeking pay raise, and it protest to oppression and control over educational institutions. They have gathered several times in front of the mullahs' parliament in Tehran. A number of the teachers who have taken part in strikes have been arrested or have been laid off by Ahmadinejad's government.

NCRI - Thousands of furious Eghlid residents burned several government buildings in an act to defy decision to annex the tourist site of "Khosrow Shirin" to the neighboring province. (In southern province of Fars).
The rage was brought by a decision taken by Ahmadinejad to separate the profitable town of "Khosrow Shirin" from Fars Province. |
