An example of the power of the PMOI is the constructive role it has played in Iraq by strengthening the nationalist and anti-fundamentalist forces in Iraq who seek a secular and pluralistic democracy for their country," said Claire Miskin, an experienced Barrister at Three Dr Johnson's Buildings, a Recorder joint chair of the International Bar Association's Women's Interest Group, in her speech at Westminster on December 15 in a conference on the main Iranian opposition movement's status, PMOI, in Iraq. NCRI - "The lesson we learn is that support for regimes that violate human rights is linked directly to violations of human rights at home. Yet this is exactly what Britain has been doing with Iran's regime", said Bill Bowring in his speech at Westminster on December 15 in a conference on the main Iranian opposition movement's status, PMOI, in Iraq. Barrister and Professor of International Law at Birkbeck College, University of London, Bill Bowring stressed that "the actions of countries like Britain in comforting and legitimizing the Iranian regime, while restricting the activities of the PMOI, will simply delay the process of change in Iran." NCRI - Lord Taverne, QC and former Minister, addressed a conference on the PMOI's status in Ashraf City in Iraq at Westminster on December 15. He and many of his colleagues and jurists expressed concern over the Iranian regime's role in Iraq and the Middle East. He said "to ask Iran to assist in bringing about stability in Iraq by disbanding the Shiite militias under its control is like asking Hitler's help to disband the SS." NCRI - Speaking to a conference at Westminster in London on December 15, the Rt Hon The Lord Slynn of Hadley, former Advocate General at the European Court of Justice and Lord of Appeal in Ordinary, stressed that all restrictions placed on the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) must be removed.
