students protest_shiraz universityNCRI - Hundreds of students protested to a scheduled speech by Brig. Gen. Ali Larijani, Mullahs Majlis (Parliament) speaker in Shiraz University, reported semi-official news agency Fars on Thursday.

More than 700 students arrived at Fajr Auditorium at 4 p.m. local time where Larijani was supposed to speak. However, the organisers fearing the protesting students blocked all entrances to the main event.

tehran_university_iranNCRI - Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in fear of widespread student protests skipped his annual speech on the occasion of schools' reopening at Tehran University on Monday.

Despite days of preparations and public announcements, at the last minute he canceled his attendance.

"Contrary to past three years, the President will not give his speech on the occasion of school reopening day at Tehran University. Instead, his deputy, Mr. Davoodi will attend the ceremonial event," the state-run TV broadcast said.

maryam_rajavi_epNCRI - Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, welcomed the new UN Security Council resolution 1835 which called for a complete halt to all the mullahs' regime nuclear projects and compliance with the previous resolutions.  By referring to the new IAEA report and documents submitted by its officials which reveals, more than before, the military nature of the Iranian regime's nuclear activities, she called for comprehensive sanctions against the ruling religious fascism.

lion_and_sunNCRI - In her speech at the UN General Assembly, the Argentine President, Mrs. Cristina Fernandez, called for the trial of six Iranian officials, including the former president Hashemi Rafsanjani, who are wanted for their role in Jewish centre bombing in Buenos Aires (Amia bombing) on July18, 1994. She called for their surrender to the Argentinean judiciary for trial.

Rajavi urges IAEA Board of Governors and the UN Security Council to be firm, impose comprehensive sanctions on TehranNCRI - Simultaneous with the current session of the IAEA's Board of Governors, which is reviewing the Iranian regime's nuclear program, the Iranian Resistance's President-elect Maryam Rajavi urged the Board of Governors and the United Nations Security Council to act firmly and impose comprehensive sanctions against the regime, and deny it further opportunity to acquire nuclear weapons. Mrs. Rajavi added that the new IAEA report leaves no room for any doubts on the military nature of the mullahs' nuclear program and their attempts to conceal it.

NCRI - On September 18, the state-run news agency ISNA quoted Gholam-Hossein Esmaili, the Mullahs' prosecutor in Mashhad as saying that there were more than 500 drugs traffickers on death row. The prisoners are convicted of drug related charges; however, the actual figure is much higher than what was reported, according to Esmaili.
