Iranian dissidents in Iraq: the beginning of a sit-in in Geneva PDF Print E-mail

They asked the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) to intervene to prevent the transfer or expulsion of 3,500 Iranian dissidents from Iraq.

Iran: A prisoner hanged in Tabriz PDF Print E-mail

hanging-noose-iran150NCRI – A prisoner named Bahram was hanged in the northern city of Tabriz. Bahram served 19 years of prison term before his hanging on Sunday, the state-run daily Etemaad reported on August 25.

The hanging brings to ten the number of executions last week by the mullahs' regime in Iran. Six prisoners were hanged in the northeastern city of Birjand, two hanged in Karaj, 40 kilometers west of Tehran and one in the northeastern city of Bojnourd.

Iran: Mobile Courts to enforce suppressive laws PDF Print E-mail

mobile-court-iran100NCRI – Chief of the mullahs' judiciary, Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, in a directive ordered the start of Mobile Courts in the country, the state-run news agency Mehr reported on Monday.

"In accordance with the law passed on September 1, 1987, in Majlis [mullahs' parliament], the local judiciary offices, in offering expeditious legal service, expanding public equality and providing order as well as expediting and enhancing legal procedures, are hereby ordered to facilitate the Mobile Courts in their jurisdiction," Mehr added.

Iran: Beating up tourists in Shiraz PDF Print E-mail

tourists-iran150NCRI – Last week six women and a man touring the southern city of Shiraz were beaten and arrested. The State Security Forces (SSF) – mullahs' suppressive police – Chastity Unit patrolling the streets stopped a group of East Asians touring the city for not observing the strictly imposed dress code. Not having a translator, the group resisted the SSF agents and was severely beaten and arrested.

A new policy is in effect starting September 22, opening school year in Iran, allowing the government appointed university officials to install the new security gates not only at the various colleges but at the entrance and exit doors of the student dorms.

PMO hanged signs banning women cyclists from riding their bikes in the city's parks and outdoor greens.
