Six killed as riots in northwest Iran continue PDF Print E-mail

Ongoing protests in northwestern Iran provincesNCRI - At least six people were reported killed in riots yesterday in the city of Naqadeh, northwest Iran.

The incident took place on the fourth day of riots in northwestern provinces where Azari speaking population live.

According to a news website run by former commander of the Revolutionary Guards Corps, some 1,000 young people staged a protest demonstration in Naqadeh against publication of a cartoon in the state-owned daily, IRAN. The youth attacked government buildings including the department of Islamic Culture and Guidance and set fire to the building. In pursuant clashes at least 30 were reported to have been wounded.
