"Celebration for Freedom" marking the second anniversary of Maryam
Rajavi's release from detention on July 3, 2003, was held Saturday
night (July 2) at her residence in Auvers-sur-Oise.
A large number of Iranians and French citizens attended the festive event.
” We call this night, the night of Maryam and friendship. Tonight is
the second anniversary of Maryam's freedom following the scandalous and
the shameful June 17, 2003 raid by the French police,” said Dr. Saleh
Rajavi, NCRI representative in France and Switzerland.
In her speech, Mrs. Rajavi thanked the people of France and
particularly her neighbors in Auvers-sur-Oise for their solidarity with
the Iranian Resistance against the shameful policy of appeasing the
mullahs.

"The mullahs' sham election, boycotted nationwide by the Iranian
people, was a turning point for it will expedite the realization of the
Iranian nation's demand to overthrow Iran's ruling theocracy.” She
said. "At an impasse, the mullahs chose a president who fired coup de
grace at political prisoners,” Mrs. Rajavi added. ”Governments
around the world that have decided not to remain indifferent in the
face of the mullahs' brazenness and chosen to respect a nation that has
brought the mullahs to their knees, must stop aiding this dictatorial
regime. It is their duty to recognize the Iranian people's legitimate
resistance and remove all restrictions, such as the terrorist label.”

A delegation of local residents announced that 100,000 French
citizens had signed a declaration in support of the Iranian Resistance
and its president-elect and that the signatures had been delivered to
the Elysee [PUT PROPER ACCENT ON E] Palace. They called for the removal
of all restrictions on the resistance and the dismissal of the baseless
case.
They also read out a new statement signed by over 1,000 residents of
Auvers-sur-Oise, collected in a weeklong campaign, condemning plots
against the Iranian Resistance.
A number of dignitaries, social, cultural and religious
personalities addressed the gathering and voiced support for Mrs.
Rajavi.
Mr. Ross Pople, the famed London Festival Orchestra conductor, preformed a piece in honor of Mrs. Rajavi.
A number of French, Palestinian and Iranian artists also performed during the celebrations.
