Daily Telegraph, the law diary, December 21 - There was a dusty answer from EU ministers last week to a ruling from the European Court of First Instance annulling the EU Council's decision to freeze the funds of the People's Mujahadeen of Iran (PMOI), an exiled Iranian resistance group.

The EU court said the council had not given reasons for using anti-terrorist powers against the group, or given it a chance to respond. In reply, the council said it would improve its procedures and might appeal. Yesterday, though, the Scottish Tory MEP Struan Stevenson said that "something must be done immediately to remove the PMOI from all terror lists".
