ImageNCRI - Ingrid Holzhueter, Former member of the German Bundestag from Social Democratic Party and the president of the German branch of the Friends of a Free Iran Committee, called for EU's tough measures against the clerical regime in Iran.

In her letter to EU's rotating presidency, Holzhueter said that designation of the IRGC and its Qods Force as terrorist entities by the United States has turned the Iranian regime into the day's pressing concern needed to be dealt with urgently.

She highlighted the IRGC's role in suppression of democracy and freedom inside the country and export of terrorism and fundamentalism abroad and emphasized that all key positions in Iran have been taken over by individuals with long record of serving the IRGC.

By referring to IRGC's role in the nuclear weapons project and increasing terrorist activities in Iraq and other countries in the region through its extraterritorial arm, the Qods Force, she called for an effective European policy to strengthen peace and security in the Middle East and the whole world. To this end, she stressed that the EU should immediately designate the IRGC and its affiliated bodies as terrorist entities. She regretted that the EU policy on Iran has so far been a failure allowing the regime to spread its terrorism and continue with it brutal suppression of Iranian people.

In conclusion she urged support for democratic change in Iran as proposed by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance. She described this as the only way to prevent a catastrophic war in the region. By denouncing the EU's appeasement policy towards mullahs' regime, she called for immediate removal of all restrictions against the Iranian Resistance and removal of the PMOI from the EU's terror list.
