Mrs. Rajavi calls for international condemnation of bombing of water supply station by Iran regime PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 09 February 2008
NCRI- "On Saturday, the Qods force had bombed the pumping station supplying water to Ashraf city, 100 kilometres north-east of Baghdad, according to Iranian resistance sources," Deutsche Presse-Agentur, DPA, reported.

"The president-elect of the Paris-based Iranian Resistance, Maryam Rajavi, has called on the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross and other international and human rights bodies to condemn the attack. She also called for the prosecution of the perpetrators", the report added.

The bombing of the water supply pumping station of Ashraf City (home to members of People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Iraq) took place at 3:30 am local time on Friday. The facility also supplied water to areas 25 km to the west of Ashraf according to information received.

More than 300 kg of TNT was used in this bombing and as a result huge water pumps, installations of the station and offices were destroyed and supply of water to Ashraf and 20,000 Iraqis living in the area were cut off.

Today false claims disseminated by an agent of the clerical regime acting as the spokesman of the Karbala police force that four members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) had been arrested in that city.

"The press spokesman for the People Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) in Ashraf camp denied detentions of members of Mojahedin Khalq", in Iraq, dpa said.

He told dpa: "This is a misinformation campaign by the Iranian regime against PMOI in Ashraf. We totally deny this claim, and all members of the Mojahedin are staying in Ashraf and protected by the US military."

"He said the Iranian regime had dispatched to Iraq some elements of the Qods force, which is considered a terrorist organization by the United States, to pursue this misinformation campaign", dpa added.
