NCRI - Iranian regime's Foreign Minster Manouchehr Mottaki attended the funeral of Imad Mughnieh, a leading figure in Lebanese Hizbollah on Thursday, AFP reported.

The Iran regime, "along with its regional ally Syria, is accused of arming and financing Hizbollah," the report added.

In a report, the Al-Arabiya TV said, "Imad Mughnieh played a major role in Hizbollah's intelligence and special operations. His intelligence activities started with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), before joining Hizbollah."

The TV network added, "He had a major role in 1983 Beirut bombing and hostage taking of the French citizens in 80's. American officials accused him of taking part in Beirut Embassy and Marine Barracks bombings in 1983.

"Moghnieh had joined the Lebanese Amal movement in 1982.  Later he joined Hizbollah and went to Iran when he was 20.  He later was recommended by an IRGC commander to run the Hizbolah's intelligence unit.

"He has been also accused of involvement in the 1996 Khobar bombing in Saudi Arabia that killed 18 American military personnel.

"He had undergone plastic surgery twice in Iran."
