Iran: "Public Security" plan will continue into the next year PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 21 February 2008
NCRI - Brig. Gen. Ahmad Roozbehani, head of the "moral police" in the mullahs' regime announced that his men would strictly enforce the controversial "boosting the public security" plan well into the next Iranian year (Persian calendar beginning March 21), the state-run news agency Fars reported on Wednesday.

The measure triggered unprecedented protests by Iranian citizens across country since its initial introduction last April.

"It has been a very successful plan in 2007. The plan enabled the police to combat different aspects of the crimes," added Rooszbehani.

"The plan focused on fighting hooligans and thugs, immoral behaviors, illegal CDs, and drinking in the country," He said.

Last July, Commenting on the plan, Ahmadinejad said, "The nature of the work is that the government is defending with all its power the security measures to protect people in particular when dealing with hooligans, they all should defend [these measures]..."  By referring to youths who were executed in recent weeks he said, "Every single one of these [young people] is like a dangerous bug, therefore, they should either be corrected or put in jail otherwise should do what has been done."

The leaders of the clerical regime, who are surrounded by internal crises and social protests, find the only way out in stepping up suppression and repression. To this end, they are trying to prepare grounds for further executions.
