Iran: Widespread strikes by sugar cane factory workers and crackdown on Abbaspour Dam employees |

 NCRI - On Monday, sugar cane factory workers walked out over their unpaid salaries for the second time this year (Persian calendar year starting March 21), in the southern city of Shoosh. Their salaries and other benefits have not been paid for January and February. They went on strike last September over the same issue.
The State Security Forces (SSF) and agents of Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) attacked some 800 workers of the Abbaspour Dam outside the southern city of Masjed Soleiman on Thursday. The workers went on strike when the government refused to compensate for their unpaid salaries.
In recent weeks, approaching the Iranian New Year, the workers in a number of the factories and workshops have gone on strike primarily over their unpaid salaries.
Workers walked out in Pashmineh Baft Factory in the western city of Qazvin, Mehrpoya Textile Factory in the central city of Isfahan, Navard Company in the western city of Karaj, Iran's Telecommunications and Sandoq Nasoz in Tehran just to name a few. Workers are particularly angry since they have not enough to provide for their families in the upcoming New Year.
The Iranian Resistance calls on all international human rights organizations and labor unions, in particular, the International Labor Organization (ILO) to condemn the suppressive measures adopted by the mullahs' regime and to support their demands.
