NCRI - On Monday, more than 500 students demonstrated on Shiraz University Campus demanding chancellor's resignation. The angry students marched from their dormitory to the main campus of Shiraz University in southern Iran.

Students chanted anti-government slogans against Mohammad Sadeqi, the school's chancellor, demanding his resignation. Protesting students occupied Sadeqi's office when he escaped the compound thought the backdoor fearing for his life.

Demonstrators shouted, "Resign, Resign, we don't want a corrupt chancellor," "This is our last warning, students' movement is alive," "We don't want a Pasdar (a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-IRGC) as our chancellor."

Ending their demonstration for the day, the students threatened to renew their protests if he would not resign soon.

Last April, thousands of students at Shiraz University began their protest over mandatory dress codes set by the school administrators. They widely posted warnings on bulletin boards warning students to strictly obey the dress code.

Some huge bulletin boards were erected at the school's male dormitories with a statement ordering male students not to wear "shorts and tank tops in the dormitory's halls or where they sleep."

The students also prepared an eleven point resolution which contained their demands and on the top of the list was their request for the university president to resign.
