Iran: Mullahs step-up suppression in the Iranian New Year PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 24 March 2008

Active ImageNCRI - Brig. Gen. Ismail Ahmadi-Moqaddam, chief of the State Security Forces (SSF) in Iran described "boosting public security and increasing morality plan," as a major success.

"The SSF has decided to introduce a variety of security measures next year [2008] to improve security standards to an acceptable level," said Ahmadi-Moqaddam.

The so-called "boosting public security plan" was first introduced last April to combat popular uprisings. Mass street arrests of hundreds of thousands of women and youth under the pretext of "mal-veiling" and suppressing "thugs and hooligans" followed. In the same period more than 300 prisoners were sent to gallows.

The mullahs' inhuman regime in fear of increasing popular protests by workers, students, women and youths has turned to more suppressive measures in Iran.
