The PMOI campaigns for a change of regime in Iran and has cross-party political support in Britain.

The Government was ordered today to remove an Iranian resistance group from its list of banned terrorist organisations.

Delivering another blow to anti-terror legislation, Lord Phillips, the Lord Chief Justice, said there was no evidence that the Peoples Mujahidin Organisation of Iran was currently involved in terrorism.

He rejected an appeal by Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, against a decision by the Proscribed Organisations Appeal Commission to remove the PMOI from the list of groups banned under the Terrorism Act 2000.

The PMOI campaigns for a change of regime in Iran and has cross-party political support in Britain.
