Iran: Three thousand brick factory workers strike entered 20th day in Orumieh PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 18 June 2008

National Council of Resistance of IranNCRI - More than 3,000 brick factory workers walk out entered 20th day on Monday over their low salaries in the northwestern city of Orumieh.

The State Security Forces (SSF) – mullahs' suppressive police—clashed with the striking workers and arrested 24 protesters.

Since June 13, the plain-clothes agents and other suppressive security forces as well as SSF agents have tried in vain to break up the strike by exerting pressure on the strikers at work and in their homes.

In past month alone, labor strikes have increased dramatically and included thousands of workers rising up to gain their inalienable rights across the nation. The mullahs' regime feckless in fulfilling the workers minimum demands such as paying workers' salaries on time has turned to more suppression.

The Iranian Resistance calls on labor organizations and unions and the International Labor Organization (ILO) in particular to condemn the anti-labor policies of the clerical regime and suppression of the workers in Iran.
