NCRI – Mr. Struan Stevenson, Vice-President of the EPP-ED group at the European Parliament and Co-chair of the Friends of a Free Iran (FOFI) Intergroup at the EP, in a speech in the gathering of more than 70,000 Iranian exiles in Paris called on the European leaders to support the Iranian people and the main Iranian opposition force, the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

Text of speech by Mr. Struan Stevenson, June 28, 2008:

I deliver to you the best wishes from the people of Scotland.

Today, we celebrate the removal of the PMOI [the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK)] from the UK terrorist list. Now there is no justification for the PMOI to remain on the EU terror list.

Justice has at last been served, and those who seek to defy the rule of law should take careful note. In Europe, truth and justice will always prevail.

But, sadly, truth and justice have been abandoned by the mullahs and their evil regime in Tehran.

Like the Nazis, they torture, hang and oppress their own people.

Like the Nazis, they spread their brand of fascist hatred worldwide.

Ahmadinejad has repeatedly said that he wants to wipe Israel off the map. Now he is building the nuclear weapons which will enable him to do so. Ahmadinejad is the new Hitler.

And yet Europe dithers and delays. The West pretends to impose tough sanctions, all the while supplying sanction-busting equipment to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Javier Solana pretends to talk tough in Tehran, yet he always looks for ways to appease the mullahs.

Europe tried to appease the Nazis and tens of millions died as a result.

Let us not repeat the mistakes of history.

Let us not put world peace at risk.

I say to Europe’s Leaders: Forget appeasement. Back the Iranian people. Back the main opposition force, which embodies the only people capable of replacing the mullahs' evil regime.

Support the brave and courageous Maryam Rajavi, Massoud Rajavi, and their front line brothers and sisters in Ashraf City.
