Iran: The striking workers at Kiyan-Tire factory blocked Tehran-Saveh highway PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 22 July 2008

kiyan-tire4-150NCRI - From early morning hours, the striking workers at Kiyan-Tire factory blocked the main highway between Tehran and Saveh.

The workers marked their 12th day of walkout over the wage dispute with the handpicked management starting in March.

Workers burned used tires to get the attention of commuters to and from Tehran.

Their demonstration today lasted for two hours. However, they threatened to do the same in the future if their demands of unpaid salaries are not met by the government.

Following their first round of strikes in March several labor activists were arrested in the factory by the State Security Forces (SSF) – mullahs' suppressive police armed with bulldozers and water cannons. The special units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) brought down the factory walls and inflicted heavy casualties on the striking workers.
