The Iranian regime's parliament adopts legislation that makes “belief in and practical commitment to Velayat-e faqih” a precondition for establishing a political party or becoming its member

NCRI - A year after Hassan Rouhani took office, the anti-human regime took a new step in intensifying repression by adopting a new legislation that regulates the formation of parties and their activities and it provides legal justification to all-out suppression.‬

According to Article 4, Paragraph A of the new legislation ratified by Iranian regime's parliament the founding board and members of a political party should “believe in and have practical commitment to the constitution and Velayat-e faqih (absolute rule of clergy)."They should also have no “record of punitive sentence”.

The legislation prohibits the activities of political parties and groups prior to obtaining a permit and gives ample leverage to the government to revoke political parties’ permits.

The Paragraph A was adopted on July 13 with a majority vote with only 10 votes against and 12 abstentions.

Before all else, the legislation that provides legal justification to all-out suppression reveals the extreme weakness and fragile state of a regime engulfed in deep internal and external crises that is fearful of popular uprisings with overthrowing characteristic.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance said in the grand gathering of Iranians on June 27 in Paris: “Mullahs brag that 35 years of their rule demonstrates their power. Our answer is: Stop the executions and torture and then all will see that this worn out regime cannot even last 35 days.”

Since June 20, 1981, all dissidents have faced imprisonment, torture and execution and no opposition political party or group has had the right to exist. But today, through ratification of this law that requires the political parties to have practical commitment to rule of Velayat-e faqih, the clerical regime is attempting to block the least move for any dissent even by any faction within the regime itself.

After the mullahs’ sham presidential election on 15 June 2013, the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance Mrs. Maryam Rajavi alluded to the criminal record of Hassan Rouhani and declared: “Without freedom of expression and human rights, and so long as political prisoners and activities of political parties are not free, and the regime’s belligerent policies in Syria and Iraq continue, and it insists on obtaining nuclear bombs, nothing would change. The leaders of this regime know quite well that any serious change in these policies will lead to the demise of the regime in its entirety.”
