French anti-racism movement condemns savage Iran’s Evin prison raid

A brutal attack on political prisoners by the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards, intelligence agents and prison guards at the regime’s Evin prison has been condemned by France’s anti-racism group.

The Movement against Racism and for Friendship among the Peoples (MRAP) also demanded an investigation into the raid which left dozens seriously injured.

MRAP demanded a moratorium on all executions and the cancellation of death sentences on anyone who was a minor at the time of their alleged crime.

Guards stormed Evin’s Ward 350 last week on the pretext of inspections.

A statement by MRAP said: “While in the first three months of this year more than 200 people have been executed for various crimes, the Special UN Rapporteur on Iran, the Special UN Rapporteur on arbitrary executions and the High Commissioner for human are troubled by the number of executed prisoners.

“MRAP condemns the excessive use of force by guards at Evin Prison against political prisoners.”

MRAP added: “Following the violence, prisoners who had been transferred to solitary confinement, and those in Section 350 of Evin Prison began a hunger strike to demand the return of their prisoners to the general section.

“While visits are suspended, the families of prisoners demonstrated outside the prison.

“MRAP strongly condemns the violence perpetrated against detainees and demand that light be shed on these acts. MRAP urges the Iranian authorities to introduce a moratorium on all executions and cancel death sentences of those who were minors at the time of the alleged crime.”
