NCRI - A prisoner in Zabol Prison (Southeastern Iran) was attacked and killed by prison’s head of intelligence at midnight Tuesday May 16.
According to reports, Zabol Prison’s head of intelligence ‘Gholamreza Rezaei’, while pretending to inspect ward 4, went right to a 45-year old prisoner named ‘Ramezan Koohkan’, throwing him down from the top of a triple bunk bed.
Due to his addiction, Ramezan Koohkan was one of the customers of Gholamreza Rezaei’s cousin, and was attacked by prison’s head of intelligence for not paying his debt.
The torturer prison’s heads of intelligence began swearing and aggressing the prisoner before throwing him off the top of his bed, causing him to die instantly due to concussion, according to witnesses.
Prison officials then sent the prisoner to Zabol’s Amir-al-Momenin Hospital so as to pretend he died of natural causes. Koohkan’s death has been announced by prison officials to be caused by syncope.
Gholamreza Rezaei, also known as ‘Israeli Cow’, is the prison’s biggest drug dealer, using his murder-convicted cousin in prison for distributing and selling drugs.
Also a prison guard doing his military service in Zabol Prison was sworn at and beaten by Gholamreza Rezaei last week.
According to reports, one of prison guards named ‘Mohammad Khalilpour’ was punched and kicked in an attack by prison’s head of intelligence Wednesday May 10.
Fearing the news release, prison officials refused to send the injured guard to hospital despite his critical condition, taking care of him in guards’ dorm instead.
Khalilpour’s injuries were so severe that he was unable to talk for a few days, forcing the warden ‘Hassan Mir’ to go visit and appease him on May 12 in his rest place, where other guards began to complain and ask for investigations.
Following the incident, all 120 prison guards protested against head of intelligence’s brutality and continuous, vulgar insults.
