NCRI – Ms. Atena Daemi, who is on hunger strike since April 9, is suffering in the women’s ward of Evin prison from kidney severe pain and bleeding, dizziness, nausea, severe blood pressure fluctuations, decreased vision in the right eye and weight loss, and she is not even able to drink water. Ms. Daemi is on hunger strike to protest prison sentence for her sisters.

Ms, Daemi, 29, was arrested in October 2014 in front of the United Nations office in Tehran and sentenced to seven years for “collusion to disrupt the security”. On November 26, 2016, henchmen raided the home of Atena, who was on leave, arrested her and forcibly returned her to Evin Prison. They sentenced her two sisters for their objection to this action to 91 days imprisonment.

Mr. Ismail Abdi in Section 350 of Evin Prison, who is on hunger strike since April 30, is suffering from decline and fluctuations in blood pressure, and severe stomach and kidney pain. In protest against the issuing security sentences for activists of teachers and workers unions and his own retrial, he went on hunger strike. Now it has been more than two months that based on the physician’ view, he has to go to gastro and kidney specialists. But the Iranian Revolutionary Guards refuse to send him to hospital. Mr. Abdi was charged on March 1, 2015, and May 7, 2015, to “assembly and collusion with intent to act against national security” and “propaganda against the regime” and was sentenced to six years in prison.

In another news, Arash Sadeghi, a political prisoner in Evin Prison’s Ward 350, who is suffering from various physical ailments due to long-term hunger strikes, remains in a critical condition because of lack of specialist physician and medical treatment. He has lost weight significantly after his hunger strike and his right kidney has lost up to 80% of its function and his left kidney up to 20%. His heart has become arrhythmic and his breathing condition is dire. It is more than five months that the doctors ordered a treatment and examination of his digestive system, stomach, heart and kidneys, but Ministry of Intelligence and the IRGC in prison refuse to send him to the hospital and torture him by numerous sabotages.
