Music concerts are banned in the universities of Iran

NCRI – The deputy minister of Science pointed out that no coed camping trips are permitted for the students. He also said that: “holding concert is forbidden in the universities,”

On 21st August 2016, Mehr News Agency, affiliated with the Ministry of Intelligence reported that Seyed Zia Hashemi in an annual meeting with the authorities of the student Basij Organization (suppressive paramilitary force of regime) in Mashhad emphasized on the law that stipulates the prohibition of concerts in the universities as well as the student tours. He stated:”the instruction of tours was ratified in 2009 and according to that the coed tours are prohibited. This includes any cultural, scientific, industrial and educational tours. As some fields require a personal visit, the educational tours are exceptionally allowed, provided that the professor accompanies the students. We have reacted to any problems that have arisen.”

He also noted that:”no coed student tour is permitted. So far it has been reported that 40 coed tours have been done without the supervision of the university and by the students. We have reacted to this issue immediately.”

It is worth noting that on Monday 8th August 2016, the Ministry of Science has announced that the concerts were not held in the university in the past and it is not held currently as well.

In recent days, the Friday prayer Imams of the Mullahs’ regime opposed any concerts in the cities including Mashhad, Ramsar, Tonekabon, Sirjan, Khvaf and Anbarabad.
