NCRI – The Romanian Parliamentary Committee for a Free Iran in a statement congratulated the relocation of People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI or MEK) members from Iraq to Europe to Mrs. Maryam Rajavi and all members and supporters of PMOI (MEK). Following is the full text:

Hail to a great victory for the people of Iran and the Iranian Resistance and a defeat for the mullahs ruling regime of Iran!

After a 4-year of tireless campaign, today, we are witnessing the successful and complete transfer of the residents of Camp Liberty to Albania. Although this has been a very hard earned victory and one that cost the death of many, but, it is a tremendous victory for the people of Iran and the Iranian Resistance.

This victory possess two important characteristics. First, it is characterized by a continuous resistance by the residents, and in particular, its leadership, who have been under missile attacks a number of times, all those were doomed to defeat. Second, it is characterized by the steadiness leadership of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, to make this transfer happen.

During the past 14 years, the camp residents stood together and defended their beliefs.

Through the human and financial sacrifices, they proved to be true believers in their fight for peace and democracy in Iran. It is a very clear signal to the whole world that this movement has integrity and it is very serious in its fight.

The long delay of this transfer, unfortunately, resulted in the death of 141 individuals and the wounding of more than 1000 residents. Despite the very clear role of the Iranian regime to sabotage this transfer, one should not ignore the devastating impact of the appeasing policy of the western countries towards Iran. These countries opted to give priority to economic gains in dealing with Iran and close their eyes on the violations of human rights.

The Romanian Parliamentary Committee for a Free Iran would like to offer its appreciation to the efforts of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, parliamentarians, political parties, human rights personalities and others for their efforts to make this transfer a reality. We urge all the supports of the Iranian resistance around the globe to continue their campaigns for the achievement of peace and democracy in Iran.
