The police in Iran arrested a woman in the city of Karaj while singing and playing live music, state-run websites reported.

Colonel Hossein Zangi, the deputy police chief in the province said: "A man was accompanying the woman as she was arrested."

The reports said the police made the arrest after the judicial authorities were informed.

The report did not say when the arrest has been made nor did it reveal the identity of those arrested.
