A committee of Iranian-Americans held a press conference on May 24 and
Tim Ghaemi, the committee’s executive director, described the report as
a compilation of lies by agents of the Iranian Intelligence Ministry
and called on HRW to withdraw the report.
Prof. Reza Sammi, an expert on Iran and a human rights activist,
elaborated on the reasons why the report is unfounded for members of
local press and representatives of human rights organizations and
political personalities.
Ms. Ilean Smith, chair of the National League for Peace and Freedom in
Colorado, said that the report by HRW was a mistake and it should be
withdrawn.
Zoe Williams, a political science student at Colorado University and a
human rights and women’s rights activist, said the methodology used by
HRW was highly questionable and contrary to recognized procedures
adopted by all other credible human rights bodies. |
