Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian
Resistance, congratulated the nationwide and victorious boycott of the
illegitimate presidential election to the Iranian people, describing it
as a reflection of a great national resolve to bring down the ruling
theocracy and establish democracy in the fettered Iran.
Mrs. Rajavi underscored that the mullahs’ election was faced with a
major wave of popular protests before the vote, which caused
unprecedented discord within the regime’s leadership and inflicted a
heavy blow to the mullahs on election day.
Whatever the outcome of this masquerade, and regardless of who wins,
she said, the regime in its entirety would be engulfed in a profound
crisis.
The Iranian Resistance’s President-elect said, “The message of today’s
nationwide boycott to the international community is that the time for
deal making and appeasing the mullahs’ inhuman regime has come to an
end and that the demands of the Iranian people for the overthrow of the
mullahs’ and the establishment of democracy must be heeded.”
Mrs. Rajavi lauded all women, men and youths who today rejected the
clerical regime and staged demonstrations and protests against this
farce. She also called on young people nationwide and the Resistance’s
activists and sympathizers across the world to spread solidarity and
resistance to bring about democracy and freedom in Iran.
Fewer than 10 percent of the eligible voters took part in the sham election today.
