Woman dies of acid attack in Esfahan, former top Iranian tourist attraction

An Iranian women died on Sunday as she and two other women were target of the latest series of acid attacks in city of Isfahan, a local news website reported.

The website quoted an eyewitness saying that “one of victim died due to acid burns on her chest” and “two others with injuries in their faces and hands were taken to hospital for treatment.”

Iran – Human Rights: Juvenile offender executed in Tabriz

NCRI – The Iranian regime’s henchmen hanged a juvenile offender who allegedly had committed a crime four years ago when he was 14.

The victim, Fardin Jaffarian was hanged early morning on Saturday, October 18, in the city’s main prison.

Iran: Falling oil prices compounds effects of nuclear sanctions

The continued decline in the price of oil, which is down about 25 percent since June, could compound the effect of international sanctions on the Iranian regime that has lost nearly half of its oil revenue in the past two years, according to a Washington Post editorial published on Sunday.

UN report documents alarming rise in executions in Iraq

A report published on Sunday by top United Nations officials documents the alarming rise in executions carried out by Iraq since the restoration of the death penalty in 2005.

The report by the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) details how executions in Iraq are often carried out in batches.
Up to 34 individuals were executed in a single day and that overall, many convictions are based on questionable evidence and systemic failures in the administration of justice.

Iran: Human rights lawyer banned from practicing

NCRI - Iranian human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh says a court has banned her from practicing her profession for three years.

Mrs. Sotoudeh told AFP that she would not challenge the decision but will hold a sit-down protest outside the Iran Bar Association's headquarters in Tehran, starting on Tuesday.

Iran: Four prisoners hanged in northern city

NCRI – The Iranian regime henchmen hanged four men on Sunday in the main prison in city of Rasht in northern Iran.

The head of judiciary in Gilan province did not identify the prisoners but said they were all men that had been arrested on drug related charges.
