NCRI - A man identified as Iraj D. was hanged in public yesterday in the city of Shooshtar in the oil rich province of Khuzistan, southern Iran.
The man was charged with murder but no detail of his trial was released.
Khuzistan province was the scene of violent unrests last summer which was brutally suppressed by the clerical regime's security forces leaving over 60 dead and hundreds more wounded or arrested.
NCRI - Clerical regime's news agency IRNA reported today that a man was hanged in public this morning for alleged murder back in 2005 in a village in Isfahan province, central Iran. The man identified as Ali Salahshour, was 33 years of age.
Other state media reported today that a man identified as Hossein S., 24, was hanged on Saturday in Qazvin, north western Iran, for alleged assault on women.
The number of executions in Iran has been on the rise in recent weeks raising concern among international human rights organizations. They have particularly expressed concern over the plight of political prisoners following the secret hanging of Hojjat Zamani, a member of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran, in February.
NCRI - Five Arab human rights organizations expressed their deep concern over the current wave of executions in Iran which includes those detained during the unrest in Ahwaz, provincial capital of Khuzistan, southern Iran.
Arab Commission for Human Rights, International Committee for Abolition of Death Penalty, Alkarameh Association in Defense of Human Rights, World Justice Organization, and Association Against Violence in Exile, highlighted in their statement that detainees were captured before the recent bombing in Ahwaz which was condemned by the above organizations at the time. Those executed were accused of being separatist elements possessing weapons.
