Demonstrations and Conflicts on the Ninth Day of the Uprising

Iran Uprising - No. 38

On Friday, January 5, on the ninth day of the uprising in Iran, in spite of a massive security presence and massive presence of repressive forces, people in many cities rallied.

In Tehran, the repressive forces from the anti-riot to the Basijis, the Revolutionary Guards and plainclothes were present in the central parts of the city on foot and mounted. They shot and injured several young people at the Revolution Square and arrested a number of people.

Demonstration at Vali Asr intersection was attacked by mercenaries. However, people moved to the Azadi Square with the slogan "Death to Khamenei". On the street of Ostad Moeen (toward Azadi Square), people fought with anti-riot forces by throwing stones and set ablaze a garbage bin in the middle of the street to prevent them from moving.

People clashed with the anti-riot guards and mercenaries on Monirieh Street towards the railroad. The regime shut down the metro to prevent people from going to the demonstrations. Gathering of the people in the student park led to a confrontation when the repressive forces attacked.

In Piroozi Avenue (east of Tehran), there is intense fighting and shooting, and a large crowd gathered in Nizam Abad and between Narmak and Tehranpars.

In Tabriz, following the people's demonstrations during the soccer match in Sahand Stadium, dozens were arrested around the stadium and at the Kasai highway. In Abresan square, anti-riot guards and the Basijis, were beating and severely injuring protesters, especially those with cell phones. People fought back with throwing stones.

The brave youth of Rasht also turned the city into a scene of hatred toward the Velayat-e faqih system, with the slogan "Death to Khamenei" at the Kouchak Khan Stadium.

Angery youth in Arak (Markazi Province) attacked the city governorate in response to the repressive forces' attacks.

In Lahijan (Guilan Province) people demonstrated with the slogan of "Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid, we are all together".

The demonstration of the people of Takestan (Qazvin province) was held with the slogans of “Cannon, tank, firecracker, the mullahs must get lost” and “Down with Rouhani”.

The demonstrations of Kashan's people and youth led to a conflict with the mercenaries at the Shahed intersection.

In Khomein (Markazi province) people demonstrated with slogans of "Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid, we are all together" and “We don’t want Islamic Republic”.

The demonstrations of brave people of Boukan and Kamyaran were also drawn into conflicts with the Guards and Basijis.

In Hossein Abad district in Orumiyeh, there was a heavy clash between brave youth and repressive forces.

In Qazvin too, the people and the anti-riot forces heavily clashed.

In Shahin Shahr, the youth llit fire on the streets. They fought against the attack of the revolutionary guards and the criminal Basijis, and threw stones at them as they chanted “Dishonest, dishonest”. The sound of the firing was heard from the demonstration area.

Courageous youth, in addition to the demonstrations, wrote slogans such as death to Khamenei, King Sultan of Velayat, your death has come, on the walls of the cities, including Dehdasht (Kohkiluyeh-Boyerahmad province) and Saghez.
