There has been much dispute between the different factions of the Iranian regime with regards to anti-money laundering and anti-terror financing bills approved by parliament. The Guardian Council, which often has the final say on many matters in Iran has rejected the bills.

Vice President Mike Pence in remarks delivered to the Conservative Political Action Conference on March 1 in Maryland called the Islamic Republic of Iran "the leading state sponsor of terrorism in the world". Speaking about President Donald Trump's efforts to make the United States safe, the vice president called Iran's nuclear program "the greatest threat to peace and security in the Middle East" and argued that by withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear agreement Trump has confronted that danger.

On Monday, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad visited Tehran to mark the declared 'victory' of his forces with the support of Iran.

During Assad’s visit, regime’s Leader Ali Khamenei praised the Syrian 'victory', and even hailed it as an Iranian victory over American 'plots' in the Middle East. (These plots include defeating ISIS and challenging Iranian military aggression.)

China was once the biggest importer of Iranian oil but, since the U.S. sanctions on Iran’s oil exports took effect, it is now only importing about half of what it once did. Although China seemed to oppose the United States’ withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA) and the re-imposition of tough economic sanctions, it has willingly complied with the U.S.
