Hirelings of Iranian regime intelligence and Quds Force transferred to Camp Liberty for third time under guise of families

Thousands of families inside and outside Iran are not granted visas to visit their loved ones in Iraq and hundreds of them have been arrested, imprisoned and even executed

NCRI – This morning, September 14, over 20 hirelings of the Iranian regime’s intelligence ministry and terrorist Quds Force were once again shuttled to Camp Liberty under the pretext of “residents’ families”. They were taken to Camp Liberty by the Iranian regime’s embassy in Baghdad and the Governmental Committee tasked to suppress Ashraf residents headed by Faleh Fayyad using a minibus escorted by Iraqi security forces. They were stationed at the entrance to the police station in Camp Liberty to continue the psychological torture of the residents.

This is the third time since last Monday that these hirelings are taken to Camp Liberty to psychologically torture the residents and to pave the way for future massacres. On Monday and Thursday, September 7 and 10, this same group spent the whole day beside Camp Liberty chanting slogans and threatening the residents.

As stated in the NCRI statement of September 10, these hirelings are headed by a paid hand called Mehran Karimdadi whose collaborations with the Iranian regime have been disclosed time and again by the Resistance. He was hired by the regime’s intelligence in the second quarter of 2003 and started to work in the branches called Nejat Association and Habilian Foundation in Mashhad, Esfahan and Orumieh where he identified PMOI supporters and families and harassed them. He was one the leaders of Camp Ashraf’s 2-year long psychological torture and used to take groups of the regime’s hirelings from Iran to Camp Ashraf. He participated in meetings against PMOI (MEK) members that were held by the Iranian regime and former Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Maliki in Baghdad.

During 2010-2011, the Iranian regime’s hirelings were stationed beside Camp Ashraf under the guise of families and threatened the residents with massacre round the clock with 320 loudspeakers. Their dirty campaign led to the massacres of April 2011 and September 2013 in Camp Ashraf, and now once again that scenario has been initiated.

The dispatch of hirelings to Camp Liberty is despite the fact that on February 15, 2012 the Special Representative of the Secretary-General guaranteed in an official letter in response to residents’ concerns regarding a repetition of psychological torture in Camp Liberty that no foreign force would go to Camp Liberty. On 15 October 2012, in response to a letter by residents’ representative concerning the transfer of the regime’s hirelings to Camp Liberty, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq wrote: “They [Iraqi officials] categorically denied that… Further, I can assure you with absolute certainty that UNAMI is not ferrying anybody to Camp Liberty under any guise.”

Meanwhile, since 2009 when protection of Ashraf was illegally transferred to the Iraqi forces, thousands of families both inside and outside Iran have requested to visit their loved ones in Camp Ashraf and then Camp Liberty, but they are not issued visas to Iraq. No lawyer, human rights activist, or parliamentarian that is even Iraqi can approach Camp Liberty. The names of a group of families in Europe and the United States who have repeatedly referred to the Iraqi embassies to obtain visas have been given to international bodies.

Meanwhile, hundreds of families have been arrested, imprisoned and even executed or tormented to death under pressure and torture and by being deprived of access to doctors and medicine because of their family relationship with PMOI (MEK) members.

Considering the repeated and written commitments by the United Nations and the United States on the security and wellbeing of the residents and considering that the presence of these hirelings in front of Camp Liberty is a grave violation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the United Nations and Government of Iraq on December 25, 2011 that was strongly endorsed by the U.S. and EU, the Iranian Resistance calls for immediate measures to end the psychological torture and end the paving of the way for the massacre of residents and for removing the Iranian regime and intelligence ministry elements from Camp Liberty who have come there under whatever pretext.
