Iran: MOIS Second Conspiracy to Prevent Release of Ali Moezzi

ncri-statement-400

Iranian Resistance calls on all international human rights authorities, especially the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights Situation in Iran, and the Special Rapporteur on Arbitrary Arrests, to take immediate and effective measures to secure the release of political prisoner, Mr. Ali Moezzi.

Based on outrageous rulings of the regime’s tribunals he should have been released about two years ago, in spring 2015; however, he was sentenced to an extra year of imprisonment under the excuse of another fake document in a show trial in December 2015. Now that the additional year of imprisonment has finished and he should have been released two months, the Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) in a new plot is seeking to put him on another trial based on another fabricated document, and prevent his release once again.

Ali Moezzi, 66, is a political prisoner of 1980s and father of two PMOI members. On 4 January 2017, after a weekly meeting with his family in Gohardasht prison, while being dragged by the executioners by force, he was moved from prison to solitary confinement in Evin prison. He was held incommunicado during the past two months. Ali Moezzi is moved now to the notorious ward 209 of Evin prison. He is suffering from different illnesses due to enduring years of imprisonment and torture.
