Call to See Into Atrocious Conditions of Iran's Prisons and Prisoners

Prison populace increased five times that of general population, according to prison chief

On May 19th a young prisoner by the name of Ali Shahsavari, held in a ward known as the “Correction Center” of Zabol Prison (southeast Iran), committed suicide protesting the Zabol public prosecutor refusing to provide him furlough at the end of his sentencing. Gholamreza Rezai, head of the prison security, ordered his hands and feet cuffed and transferred to the quarantine section. He was also ordered to be tortured in the office of the prison guards’ commander. A week earlier this prisoner had committed suicide after prison authorities refused to allow him to meet his family who had travelled from the city of Kerman to see him. He was saved by his friends.

Khamenei Bans Talk of 1988 Massacre in Sham Election Campaigns

Based on reliable reports from sources inside the Iranian regime, the mullahs' Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) has prohibited all presidential 'election' candidates from making any references to the 1988 massacre of political prisoners during the debates and campaigns in the run up to the sham election, based on the guideline stipulated by the regime’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei. The SNSC has emphasized that those executions have taken place based on Khomeini’s fatwa and making any reference to them will harm the Velayat-e-Faqih (supreme clerical rule) system and will arouse problematic issues for public opinion.

Iran: Mass Execution of Eight Prisoners, Including Two Women in Gohardasht Prison

The arrest of 20 fellow Arab citizens and mass arrests of young people in different cities

At dawn on May 3, 2017, eight prisoners, including two women were hanged in Gohardasht prison. The two women were transferred to Gohardasht Prison from the prison in Gharechak Varamin. Other victims were transferred to solitary confinement from different wards on April 29. On May 1, another prisoner was hanged in the central prison of Hamedan.

The Iranian Resistance warns about the risk to the life of political prisoner Ali Moezzi and calls on all international human rights organizations, particularly the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief and the Working Group on arbitrary arrests to take immediate and effective measures to address his situation who has been sent to exile to Fashafouyeh prison.

A 27-year-old has been sentenced to amputation

Saturday morning of April 29, henchmen in Gohardasht prison in Karaj attacked some of the wards of this prison and transferred 10 young prisoners to solitary confinement for execution. The brutal attack, which was to intimidate prisoners and prevent their protests, was led by criminals such as Yousef Mardi, the head of intelligence security at the prison, Major Zolfali, chief of police and prison guards, and the head of Ward 10.

Iran: Mass Execution of Eight Inmates in Prison; Another Prisoner Executed in Public

On April 22, the mullahs' antihuman regime hanged a young 21 year old man in public. It also sent eight prisoners to the gallows collectively in Gohardasht prison of Karaj. One of the executed was Mohsen Babai, 29 and a B.A. in accounting. He was married and was popular among other prisoners for his personality and humane behavior. A number of those executed had been previously taken to solitary cells and taken to the gallows several times. A number of political prisoners have gone on hunger strike to protest such brutal executions.
