Iran: New cabinet nominees are among veteran Revolutionary Guards, Judiciary officials

ImageMullahs’ President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad nominated Sadeq Mahsouli, Mohammad Nazemi Ardakani and Parviz Kazemi as ministers of Oil, Cooperatives and Social Welfare.

Mahsouli is among the most criminal commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) with a long record in the suppression and murder of the people of East and West Azerbaijan provinces.
He was the IRGC commander for the country’s Fifth Military District (East and West Azerbaijan), commander of the IRGC Sixth Special Expeditionary Division and for some time the IRGC’s inspector-general.
As the city governor for Orumieh and deputy governor of West Azerbaijan, he played a major role in the suppression of anti-government uprisings in the province.
The Cooperatives Minister-designate, Mohammad Nazemi Ardakani, was the representative of the religious judge in the Army’s Revolutionary Courts in western Iran. He was directly involved in the suppression, purge and execution of dissident military personnel. As a member of the IRGC’s political bureau in Kurdistan, Ardakani actively took part in crackdown and killings in the province.
He was appointed as a member of the Supreme Labor Council from 1990 to 1994, where he took part in drafting suppressive, anti-labor legislation.
The nominated Minister for Social Welfare, Parviz Kazemi, was an official in the Mostazafan (Deprived) Foundation. As a member of the Judiciary for a number of years, he was an official dealing with prisons’ affairs. He was among those involved in pushing prisoners into forced labor under the pretext of "expanding prisoners’ industries."
The mullahs’ Supreme Leader has consolidated power in the hands of the Revolutionary Guards as well as Judiciary and Intelligence Ministry henchmen in a bid to step up suppression at home and realize his ominous dream of exporting terrorism and fundamentalism, dominating Iraq and acquiring nuclear weapons.
