On Sunday, February 16, 2020, students at Tehran’s Polytechnic (Amir Kabir) University held a protest on the 40th day memorial of the victims of the Ukrainian airliner shot down by IRGC missiles on January 8, 2020.

Students were chanting:

  • Neither the ballot box, nor vote, election boycott
  • People grapple with poverty, the mullahs think of votes
  • IRGC, IRGC, you are our killers
  • Be afraid, be afraid, we are all together
  • Don’t call me seditionist, you the oppressor are the seditionist
  • From Iran to Baghdad, poverty, oppression and despotism
  • 1,500 murdered in November
  • Mothers are grieving, here is like marshes
  • November, January and June bring to mind bloodshed and injustice
  • Neither garrison, nor agencies, hail to universities

Plainclothes agents and suppressive forces stationed at the university attacked the students, who resisted their onslaught and forced them to retreat.
