NEvin Prison's enteranceationwide uprising – Statement 171

NCRI – Detainees of September 18 demonstrations in Tehran have been transferred to notorious wards of 209 and Sepah of Evin prison. These wards are crammed with high number of detainees. Male and female political prisoners previously held in these wards have been transferred to quarantine section of Ward 7 and quarantine section of Women’s Ward.

In addition, head of Gohardasht prison, Ali Haj Kazem, has told those political prisoners whose sentences have been issued that they would be transferred to the hallways of the prison and those detainees who have not been sentenced will be put in rooms. The political prisoners have protested against the plan.

The Iranian Resistance warns against torture of the detainees and calls for trial of the regime’s officials responsible for the arrest and torture of the political prisoners. It also calls on the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and special rapporteurs to take immediate measures to secure the release of the detainees.
