Continuing appeasement emboldening mullahs in pursuit of nuclear weapons

Threatening the European side in the nuclear talks, Hassan Rowhani, secretary for the Supreme National Security Council, said in a speech to the Majlis (Parliament), "If negotiations between Iran and Europe over the nuclear issue prove fruitless, we will halt them." "Ultimately, the Islamic Republic will not reduce its uranium enrichment capacity. In principle, at issue is how to continue enrichment without arousing concern," he added. Rowhani described uranium enrichment as "a decision by the state and a desire of the officials."
In an interview published today in the London daily, Financial Times, Rowhani pleaded with the U.S. government to exert more restrictions on the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI).
The clerical regime’s increasing threats against, and demands from, its Western interlocutors clearly demonstrate that the leaders of the religious dictatorship ruling Iran have become emboldened after the recent flexibility shown by Western countries. They have taken the willingness by a number of Western countries to offer new concessions as a sign of weakness. The mullahs’ only objective is to buy more time.
The threats made by the clerical regime’s leaders come as the mullahs have stepped up the brutal crackdown on citizens inside Iran, including those in the southwestern province of Khuzistan.
Today in Tehran, the regime paraded hundreds of volunteers for suicide operations outside Iranian borders. It also published a fatwa by a senior government cleric in which he sanctioned such terrorist activities "in areas where one cannot deliver blows in a conventional fashion to the enemy’s strategic targets."
The Iranian Resistance again urges Western countries to abandon the policy of appeasement and adopt a decisive policy vis-à-vis the theocracy ruling Iran. It also calls for the referral of Tehran’s nuclear file to the United Nations Security Council and warns against the catastrophic consequences of continuing appeasement and granting major concessions to the clerical regime.
