Below is excerpts of the speech by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance at Conference entitled Women's Role in War against Fundamentalism held on 2 March 2016 in the European Parliament and chaired by Beatriz Becerra, member of EP’s Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality:
Extremism under the banner of Islam is a fatal epidemic expanding throughout the world because it has not been confronted. To defeat this epidemic, a comprehensive approach is vital.
IN A MEETING AT THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
Maryam Rajavi: All the Iranian regime's factions share common interests in suppression, terrorism and plunder of public wealth; the elections sham will not lead to moderation
With the money it gets from the West after lifting of sanctions, the Iranian regime buys advanced weapons for Assad to massacre the people of Syria and send waves of refugees to the West
Maryam Rajavi: Impact of the retreat in nuclear program reflected in the disturbance of the ruling theocracy’s internal balance
The entire regime was the loser of the elections; as internal crises aggravate and the population’s rage escalates, the mullahs inch closer to their downfall
NCRI - Following a farce, predicated on the “heart-felt and practical allegiance” to the velayat-e faqih (absolute clerical rule), and merely a choice between the regime’s repressive and corrupt factions that amounted to depriving the Iranian people of their sovereignty, the clerical regime claimed in a ridiculous and astronomical lie that more than 60 percent of the eligible voters (33 million according to official figures) had cast their ballots.
Maryam Rajavi: With women’s active and equal participation in political leadership, we will turn this century into the era of women's emancipation
• Iranian regime’s elections was a competition among incumbent and former officials in charge of executions, torture and export of terrorism
• Participants pointed to the successful example of the Iranian Resistance in realizing equality and pioneering role of women. They emphasized that with solidarity and unity of action, women can play a decisive, key role in the fight against fundamentalism and realization of equality
NCRI - On Saturday, February 27, 2016, on the eve of the International Women’s Day, a grand gathering entitled, “Pledge for Parity: Women United against Fundamentalism” was held in the presence of the Iranian Resistance's President-elect Maryam Rajavi and a number of political dignitaries, intellectuals, prominent personalities, and activists of the equality movement from 26 countries and four continents.
NCRI - The Iranian Resistance's President-elect, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, said that regardless of the outcome of the sham elections for the regime's parliament and the Assembly of Experts, which have no legitimacy whatsoever in the eyes of the Iranian people, ultimately, the regime will be weakened in its entirety, its internal crises will intensify, and the resentment and anger of the population toward the mullahs' corrupt and criminal factions will deepen even further.
