  • In Hormozgan, the fatalities have quadrupled since May 21. Eighty-five percent of ventilator-assisted patients die. More than 250 Hormozgan health workers have contracted Coronavirus, and the rest are fatigued. 
  • In Bushehr, last week, the number of cases was more than the total in 4 months. This week in the province, several hundred Coronavirus patients were diagnosed daily, many in critical condition, and transferred to the ICU. 
  • In Golestan, the number of hospitalized patients has increased from 150 to 300 and 6 children have died due to Coronavirus.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK) announced on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll in 334 cities across Iran has increased to 52,800. The number of victims in Khuzestan is 4,315, Khorasan Razavi 3,295, Gilan 2,810, Isfahan 2,805, Sistan and Baluchestan 1,965, Lorestan 1,815, West Azerbaijan 1,485, Golestan 1,340, Kerman 705, Bushehr 505, and Hormozgan 410.

Today, the spokesperson for regime’s Health Ministry announced that the number of victims in the past 24 hours was 120 and the number of new virus infections was 2,612.

In Tehran, Alireza Zali, head of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT), told the state TV, on June 16, 2020, “In the past 24 hours leading up to noon today, 254 Coronavirus patients were admitted to the standard wards of hospitals in Tehran province, an increase of 1.5 percent compared to yesterday.”

In Khorasan Razavi province, the secretary of the NCCT told Astan Razavi TV, today, “Several cities have been added to the red cities of the Province. The city of Mashhad is still red … The virus is creeping into the city and spreading under the skin of the city. In the last few days, given the large number of hospitalizations, we sent a number of ambulance buses to transfer a number of patients from Taybad to Mashhad.”

President of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences told the official state news agency, ISNA, today, “Since May 21, the death toll has quadrupled. In the past 24 hours, 12 more people have died of Coronavirus. Eighty-five percent of the patients who breathe under the ventilator die. Currently, 44 people are hospitalized in the intensive care unit (ICU) and 22 are in critical condition. So far, more than 250 Hormozgan health workers have contracted the virus, and other colleagues are now very tired.”

In Golestan, the president of the Medical Sciences University told Mehr news agency on June 17, “Since the past few days, the Coronavirus spread has taken an upward trend. Five cities, Aq Qala, Bandar Torkaman, Gonbad Kavus, Maraveh Tappeh, and Bander Gaz are in a red state. At some point, the number of hospitalized patients in the province had reached 150. Now, there are 300 coronavirus patients in hospitals across the city.”

According to IRNA, he said “If the spread of the virus continues, all cities in the province will become red and the number of deaths will rise,” adding that six children had died in the province because of the infection.

In Bushehr, Deputy Governor told Aftab yesterday, in one week the number of those infected has risen equivalent to the figures for four months. This week, hundreds of infected patients have been identified every day across the province, many of whom are in critical condition and transferred to ICU.”

In Khuzestan, the president of the Medical Sciences University in Dezful said, “Large hospitals in the city are at full capacity. Beginning last week, we decided to allocate one ward of Mafi Hospital in Shush and one ward in Karun Gantvand Hospital to Coronavirus patients. After Ahvaz, Dezful has the highest number of infected patients in the province.”
