Regime Health Ministry: 25 provinces are still red or on alert

  • In its state-controlled statistics, the Health Ministry put the number of Coronavirus fatalities in the last 24 hours at 229 and the number of critically ill patients at 3,589, the highest in the past five months 
  • Deputy Health Minister: We do not know when the peak of the virus outbreak in Khorasan Razavi, Mazandaran, and Fars provinces will end? 
  • Assistant of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences: During the last 48 hours, the number of fatalities in Fars has reached 31 
  • In Mahmoudabad Hospital (Mazandaran), there is no capacity to accept new patients, and the number of patients is increasing every minute.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK) announced on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll in 347 cities across Iran has passed 74,200. The number of victims in Tehran is 18,450, Khorasan Razavi 5,460, Mazandaran 3,288, Lorestan 2,880, Alborz 2350, Hamedan 1,945, Fars 1,838, Kerman 1,045, Hormozgan 855, Zanjan 695, Qazvin 595, Ilam 570, and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari 485.

The spokesperson for the regime’s Health Ministry said in its state-controlled statistics, the Health Ministry put the number of Coronavirus fatalities in the past 24 hours at 229 and the number of critically ill patients at 3,589, the highest since the beginning of the outbreak. “The highest death toll is among those 3,500 hospitalized in Intensive Care Units (ICU). This statistic is critical. Those in ICU are in a dire condition,” said the deputy Health Ministry according to the state TV yesterday.

According to the spokesperson for the Health Ministry, quoted by the ISNA news agency, today, “The provinces of Mazandaran, Fars, East, and West Azerbaijan, Khorasan Razavi, Alborz, Khuzestan, Lorestan, Golestan, Kerman, Zanjan, and Ilam are red. The provinces of Tehran, Isfahan, Bushehr, Hormozgan, Qazvin, Markazi, North Khorasan, Hamedan, South Khorasan, Semnan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Ardabil and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad are also on alert.”

Qassem Johnbabaei, Deputy Health Minister, discussing the trend of spread of the virus in Khorasan Razavi, Mazandaran, and Fars provinces, told Asr-e Iran daily, yesterday, “We do not know when the peak of the virus outbreak will end in these provinces?”

“Currently, hospitals are in an orange or dangerous phase. More than 50% of the Coronavirus death toll is from Tehran. We cannot simply ignore the fact that 12,000 people from the medical staff became infected with COVID-19 in five months.” Said Reza Golpira, director of the Hospital Management Center in Health Ministry. “

In Tehran, the director of the Autism Association told IRNA today, “The number of Coronavirus cases in children with autism and their families has increased ten times, compared to the first wave.”

In Mazandaran, Amol’s bazaar was locked down for a week. There is no capacity to accept new patients in Mahmoudabad Hospital, and the number of patients is increasing every moment. The Public Relations office of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences told ISNA, today, “In the past 24 hours, 312 patients suspected of Coronavirus were admitted to the Province … Currently, 1,451 patients suspected of having Coronavirus are hospitalized in these centers. The governor of Mahmudabad announced, ‘All ICU and CCU wards capacity of Mahmoudabad Hospital is completed, and Amol city cannot accept new patients, either.’”

At the same time, the deputy director of treatment at Kerman University of Medical Sciences told ISNA, “Currently, we have 700 cases of Coronavirus hospitalization in the Province, which has been unprecedented in the past five months.”

In Khorasan Razavi, the president of Torbat-e-Jam University of Medical Sciences told ISNA today, “So far, 137 medical staff of Torbat-e-Jam University of Medical Sciences have been diagnosed with the disease. Even though we have 14 ICU beds, but we need another 16 beds that must be provided. Ventilators, medical staff, personal equipment, and N95 masks are other scarcities of the University.” The governor of Sarakhs was also quoted by ISNA, yesterday as saying, “Referring to the fact that 40% of Sarakhs medical staff are infected with Coronavirus, he said, ‘The worn-out facilities of Loghman Hakim Hospital, lack manpower and lack of CT scan to diagnose patients are currently among the most important problems in the city.’”

In Fars, the vice president of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences told, Mehr news agency, yesterday, “In the past 24 hours, in the Province, 15 people have lost their lives to Coronavirus, increasing the death toll in the Province to 31 in the past 48 hours.” The president of the same University told IRNA yesterday, “The number of Coronavirus deaths in Fars Province is alarming, and over 90% of the ICU beds have been completed.”

In Alborz, according to ISNA, the director of the prevention department at Alborz University of Medical Sciences, said today, “Most cities in the country have reached the alarming stage in terms of the number of patients, the filling of hospital beds and the fatigue of hospital staff have made it difficult to provide services to patients… The next wave of the disease in September and October will undoubtedly be more severe.”
