International call

for immediate action to save the lives of death row prisoners

The clerical regime’s executioners hanged three prisoners named Ahad Habibvand, Sadegh Mohi, and Mohammad Karim Mahmoudi in Urmia Prison on the morning of Sunday, April 4. They were transferred to solitary confinement yesterday along with four other inmates.

Many families of the prisoners protested in front of Urmia Prison on Saturday after learning of the possible execution of their loved ones.

Concerned about the eruption of uprisings, the clerical regime continues to carry out executions, apply torture, and make arbitrary arrests to create an atmosphere of terror and intimidation. Two female prisoners, Nafiseh Pakmehr and Masoumeh Karimi, were executed in Taybad and Rasht prisons on March 13 and 14.

The Iranian Resistance once again urges the UN Secretary-General, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, other human rights advocates, and the European Union, to take immediate action to save the lives of death row prisoners, especially political prisoners, and calls for the dispatch of an international fact-finding mission to Iran to visit the prisons and meet with the prisoners. The case of serious and systematic human rights violations in Iran must be referred to the UN Security Council and the leaders of the clerical regime must be brought to justice for four decades of crimes against humanity.
